The main oil crop of our country. Sunflower is demanding to the conditions of mineral nutrition. Hybrid sunflowers of intensive type with a yield of 4-5 t / ha, with an oil content of 47-52% per 1 ton of crop carry 40 .. 60 kg of nitrogen (N), 20..50 phosphorus (P2O5), 100..120 kg of potassium (K2O), about 17 kg of magnesium (MgO), 30 kg of sulfur (SO4), and respond well to its productivity on foliar feeding with magnesium, sulfur, boron and manganese. Sunflowers are among the most sensitive crops to the lack of boron. The reaction to boron in sunflowers is higher, compared with beets sugar. One ton of sunflower crop is given not less than 65 grams of boron, of which 20% is contained in the seeds. Boron compounds are assimilated by sunflowers, from the phase of the five leaves to the appearance of flower buds (the phase of the asterisk). Deficiency of boron in sunflowers is most often manifested in soils with alkaline (pH> 7, 2) the reaction of soil solution, carbonate soils and soils of light granulometric composition (sand, sandy soils, etc.). Its deficit also enhances drought, soil moisture deficit and soil compaction. The shortage of boron compounds in sunflowers prior to flowering results in sterility of pollen, deterioration of the processes of fertilization of flowers, which leads to emptying of baskets and loss of more than 20% of their yields.
