 Despite the difficulties with corn exports this year and last year, the crop remains one of the leaders in terms of acreage.

Corn is one of the most productive crops in Ukraine's agriculture.  To produce a high yield, it requires balanced nutrition throughout the growing season. It is necessary to start with the main fertilizer, carefully select starter fertilizers, and carry out foliar feeding during critical periods with important elements preventively and based on the results of diagnostics.

One of the most critical periods in nutrition is the formation of 4-6 leaves.  At this time, plants need sufficient zinc supply.

 The role of zinc in maize nutrition at this time is multifaceted, but the most important are

  •  stimulation of the synthesis of auxin growth hormones;
  •  release of reserve nutrients from the seed;
  •  Influence on the formation of cob productivity elements.

During this period, we recommend foliar feeding with ECOLINE Zinc (Chelate) microfertilizer at a dose of 1.0 l/ha.  Fertilization can be carried out simultaneously with the application of insurance herbicides.

 If there is a significant deficiency of phosphorus and zinc at the same time, it is advisable to use a special fertilizer ECOLINE Phosphite (K-Zn) at a rate of 1.5 - 2.0 l/ha for foliar feeding - a special composition with phosphorus in the form of phosphite to eliminate the deficiency of phosphorus, potassium and zinc, to enhance the growth of the root system.

In the case of a pronounced manifestation of phosphorus deficiency, in particular during cold snaps, and poor development of the root system, we recommend using a combination of fertilizers for foliar feeding:  ECOLINE Phosphate (K) 1.0 - 1.5 l/ha and ECOLINE Zinc (Chelate) 1.0 l/ha. This approach will not only help the plant to overcome phosphorus and zinc starvation and activate the development of the secondary root system, but also significantly strengthen the immunity of corn plants and their resistance to fungal pathogens.

It should be noted that phosphites in the recommended doses, according to independent studies, did not lead to inhibition of vital activity, but rather contributed to better development of agronomically valuable groups of microorganisms in the soil
