Foliar nutrition of sunflower in the phase of 3 - 5 pairs of leaves
Given the sharp price increase of mineral fertilizers in 2022, the possibility to apply estimated doses of fertilizers for the planned harvest is extremely limited. Therefore, there is an urgent need for tools that can mitigate the negative impact of nutrient deficiencies (particularly nitrogen) on yields. Sunflower is one of the crops, during cultivation of which this effect can be achieved.
Phase of 3 - 5 pairs of leaves is very important - at this time the plants need both effective protection against weeds and correction of mineral nutrition. Sometimes these operations can be performed with a tank mix of CPP and fertilizers. However, we need to warn you! Before preparing the tank mix, make sure that the products are compatible, depending on the selected system of herbicide protection of sunflower! If there is a slightest doubt, then it is better to separate application of crop protection products and fertilizers in time.
Schemes of application of ECOORGANIC special fertilizers were developed and tested on the crop under different soil conditions, temperatures, the presence or absence of moisture, the possible manifestation of the aftereffects of CPP applied on the predecessor or before sowing.
The main tasks of the first foliar nutrition are:
- activation of plant growth;
- providing boron nutrition;
- suppression of pathogens (fungiostatic effect)
Taking into account the weather conditions, to provide sunflower plants with boron in the phase of 3 - 5 pairs of leaves, we recommend using ECOLINE Boron (Premium) with the dose of 1.0 l / ha. The introduction of boron in combination with L-α-amino acids promotes better absorption of boron and mitigates the negative effects of stress factors of various nature.
On soils with low level of fertility, with significant spread of pathogens, it is advisable to fertilize with the tank mixture of ECOLINE Boron (Premium) 1.0 l / ha + GROS Phosphite-NP 1.0-1.5 l / ha to enhance the vegetative growth of plants and restrain the development of diseases.
Signs of zinc deficiency may appear on sunflower plants on carbonate soils with heavy particle size distribution and moisture deficiency. In this case, instead of GROS Phosphite-NP, it is advisable to use ECOLINE Phosphite (K-Zn) with the same dose of 1.0 - 1.5 l / ha.
If there is a deficiency of other nutrients (manganese, iron, molybdenum, etc.), established visually or on the basis of laboratory results, the respective chelate fertilizers of “ECOORGANIC” can be applied.
