An extremely important component of autumn care for winter oilseed rape plants is the system of foliar fertilization, which can be used to improve the conditions of mineral nutrition in the critical phases of plant development. Laying of generative organs of winter oilseed rape, which determine the yield potential, occurs in the initial stages of its organogenesis. The process of differentiation of generative organs takes place when the plants are in the rosette phase (6-8 leaves). Balanced mineral nutrition and longer term of laying of buds on top of a root neck provide higher productivity. To do this, winter oilseed rape plants need a sufficient level of NITROGEN, necessary for the growth of vegetative mass of plants, PHOSPHORUS, which ensures the growth of the root system and is part of nucleic acids, MAGNESIUM, which is involved in the synthesis and functioning of chlorophyll and ATP energy synthesis in plants. In autumn, magnesium promotes better outflow of sugars from the leaves to the root system.
Nitrogen deficiency is manifested in the form of light streaks in the fields with a large number of crop residues, growth retardation, small leaves. Phosphorus deficiency causes purple color of leaf blades and petioles. Lack of magnesium manifests itself on older leaves in the form of yellowing and sometimes redness.
The most important trace elements for the crop in this period are boron and manganese. MANGANESE regulates the absorption of nitrogen, BORON - the accumulation of sugars and the health of the leading bundles of roots. Signs of boron deficiency in autumn are clearly visible in the form of chlorosis of young leaves, the appearance of red-purple spots, micro cracks on the main root. Deficiency of this element is most often observed on soils of light granulometric composition, swampy, acidic, limed soils, during periods of severe drought. Acute lack of boron in the autumn can lead to inhibition of growth and development of the root system, growth point, reduced accumulation of sugars, their transportation to the root neck and impairs frost and winter hardiness of the plant and overwintering in general.
Weather conditions in autumn - cold and rainy weather, significant temperature changes adversely affect the vascular system of oilseed rape plants, especially with boron deficiency (which can occur at low temperatures, even with sufficient content of this element in the soil). This often causes the development of pathogenic microflora in the root system - both fungal and bacterial. The use of foliar fertilization with phosphite-based fertilizers can largely prevent such problems and keep winter oilseed rape plants healthy and able to ensure the formation of high yield potential next year.
For plants that are stressed due to adverse weather conditions, the use of products with amino acids has a positive effect.
According to the results of many years of ECOORGANIC trials, the optimal scheme of foliar fertilization of winter oilseed rape in the autumn includes ECOLINE Boron (Organic) (or ECOLINE Boron (Premium)) 1.0 - 1.5 l / ha + ECOLINE Phosphite (K) 1.0 l / ha. For better assimilation of boron by plants, we recommend applying boron fertilizer in two steps. Under stressful conditions, it is recommended to apply ECOLINE Phosphite (K-Amino) 1.0 - 1.5 l / ha. In fields with pH below 5.0, molybdenum deficiency may occur - for such areas it is better to use boron fertilizer ECOLINE Boron (Opti) 1.0 - 1.5 l / ha.
If there is an established need for other nutrients, it is necessary to apply appropriate fertilizers, such as ECOLINE Magnesium (Chelates) 1.0 l / ha or ECOLINE Manganese (Chelate) 1.0 l / ha.
