Spring 2020: Peculiarities of Foliar Nutrition of Winter Cereals
Winter cereals are the main grain crops that provide food security and export potential of our country, so their cultivation is given a special attention.
The weather conditions of this winter are absolutely atypical for Ukraine: during the first two winter months the temperature regime fluctuated from –2-30C to +5-70C in the daytime, without any snow cover. These factors can lead to significant depletion of plants. Even those late crops which look better now, when hit by adverse weather conditions over the next two months, can significantly lose their yield potential.
As noted by phytopathologists, the current situation contributes to the development of most pathogens of the fungal nature, which can also adversely affect the formation of elements of grain productivity. At the same time, the forecast from NAACU published at the end of January is cautious enough in its predictions, as it is unknown what will happen with the weather in the coming months. In practice, however, disease infection was noted during winter wheat crop inspection in the southern region. In addition, plants at some fields are overgrown, so snow cover even for several days can cause more severe disease pressure. In some regions, due to lack of moisture, the soil is completely dry at the depth of 20-30 cm, which can significantly slow down the development of plants in the spring.

All these factors create a need to differentiate and possibly intensify early winter nutrition.
In our opinion, the following special fertilizers will be most needed in the early spring:
- Products containing phosphorus in the form of phosphite (1.0-1.5 l / ha) as a supplement to fungicides and growth regulators. Thus, the most popular ECOORGANIC phosphite fertilizer - ECOLINE Phosphite (K), in addition to fungicidal action, stimulates development of the root system, helps to increase resistance of plants to adverse weather conditions, provides plants with phosphorus, which is required for assimilation of nitrogen at low temperatures .
- Complex compositions with micro and macronutrients (1.0-2.0 l / ha) - to stimulate a more active flow of physiological processes in a plant (for example, ECOLINE Magnesium (Chelates)).
In the case of further depletion of plants and worsening of weather conditions in February-March, it will be relevant to provide plants with an additional source of energy when they restore vegetation. In order to help the plants overcome stress, provide them with nutrients in the form of amino acids, we recommend a special fertilizer containing easily accessible phosphorus (phosphite) and a complex of microelements with amino acids - ECOLINE Phosphite (K-Amino) (1,5-2,0 l / ha). ECOLINE Universal Growth (Amino) (1.0-1.5 l / ha) is optimal for correcting the phytohormonal balance of plants, providing the complex of macro and microelements (including molybdenum, zinc, copper) with amino acids.
Whatever the situation in your field is, ECOORGANIC representatives are ready to help you choose the best products or develop nutrition systems for both winter crops to restore vegetation and to treat seeds or fertilize spring crops.
Only phosphite form of phosphorus in the highest concentrations, compositions containing trace elements and biologically active substances, excellent combination in tank mixes with plant protection products and increasing their efficiency due to the buffering properties and, at the same time, affordable price - these are the features that distinguish the products of ECOORGANIC at the market of Ukraine.
